Epworth Day School prides itself in providing excellent education and care for all of its students by hiring qualified, loving teachers and support staff.
I have been in the field of Early Childhood Education for the past twenty years. I have a BA in Early Childhood Education and an MA in Organizational Management. As Director, I am able to enjoy the children, staff, and dream big visions.
I grew up in the mountains of East Tennessee, married, and have two grown sons. My husband and I have been deeply involved in our church in the healing ministry. I also minister through music-organ and piano, praise, and worship.
I love to see children learn about themselves, the world around them, explore, and be wide-eyed with wonder. I love to learn new ideas, new techniques, and ways of interacting that will enhance the whole early childhood education experience for the children, staff, and parents.
Meet Our Team
I am a teacher with a passion for Christian education and ministry. I was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN. I moved to Norfolk, Virginia and attended Norfolk State University where I earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree. I have spent the last three years teaching early childhood with a specialization in S.T.E.A.M. academics.
Some of my favorite pastimes are writing short stories and plays, as well as going to Bush Gardens with friends.
I adore teaching! I love to inspire my students to be creative in their own way. My time here at Epworth Day School has inspired me to return to college to pursue a degree in early childhood education.

I love what I do, watching children grow, and knowing that I play a big part emotionally, physically, and mentally in their lives. When I'm not working I enjoy relaxing, reading, watching movies, and taking walks on the beach.
Hey I'm Deanna,
I currently attend Old Dominion University, majoring in Human Services with a minor in Psychology. After obtaining my degree, I plan to start a career in Children's counseling. I have worked with children a little over 4 years. I love seeing children grow and learn more about themselves. In my free time, I like to play volleyball, go on adventures and explore the world.
Aside from baby sitting and volunteering for at-home daycares, I started my journey working and learning about children, when I enrolled in a vocational school the last two years of high school, taking early childhood education I and II. I love the creativity and imagination that come from children, and we could all learn a lesson from their positivity! Knowing that I will make a lifelong impact on a child from an early age, whether it is big or small, is very fulfilling.
I have been at Epworth Day School for 10 years. I am the lead teacher of the Waddler Room (Playful Penguins).
I am an avid reader of romance and mystery novels, and an enthusiast of cross stitch, and crochet.
I love working with children. Watching them learn and grow is such a pleasure.
I am the lead teacher in the toddler room. I am in my last semester of studying for a bachelor's in science in human services with a minor in special education. I have 10 years of experience working with children between babysitting, nannying, working at summer camps, and child care. I love teaching children how to talk by reading, singing, and talking to them. I believe that every child learns in their own way so I have a one-on-one approach in my classroom.
I am one of the teachers in the Toddler Room. I graduated from Portsmouth Christian School in 2004. I studied for 2 1/2 years at Bob Jones University. I worked in child care centers for 16 years, with all ages 6 weeks to Jr. high school students. I have always loved working with kids. Even in my early teen years, I was babysitting and volunteering in my church's nurseries. I enjoy seeing how kids view the world and the things they say. I love reading, listening to music, and hiking in parks.
I have been at Epworth Day School since 2019. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Services Management, and I have been working in Early Childhood Education since 1997, and am currently caring for the Infants.
I love what I do. I am a San Diego, CA native, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development. I packed my bags a few years ago, and moved to Virginia, and jumped right into doing what I love. I’ve worked in in-home schools and accredited centers and each one has allowed me to watch young minds grow. Every experience I have had has allowed me to grow and given me the chance to scaffold children in their new discoveries. I wouldn’t change this journey a bit, and can’t wait to see what’s in store.
I came to EDS with more than 5 years experience in childcare. I enjoy watching children experience and learn new things as they get older every day. I love being the reason a child loves coming to daycare every day.
It is truly a blessing to be part of the Epworth family and the lives of so many beautiful children. I enjoy watching the children grow and witnessing their early steps and words.
I love reading and studying the Bible, African American history, and music. Seeing children smile and hearing them laugh is the best part of my day.
